Lyshanda and JD: Maternity

It was late afternoon and we stood knee-high in a field, swatting prehistoric-sized mosquitoes, and having the time of our lives.

Lyshanda and I have been friends since the 9th grade. She's one of those tall, gorgeous, blondes that lights up every room she enters. And to JD, it was no different. They married this April, and she's continued to light his world ever since.

So when I was given the opportunity to shoot her maternity pictures, I jumped at it. Literally. My feet came off the ground and I let out a yip of joy....Yes internet, I know....I'm cool. I jumped at the opportunity to capture beauty, pregnancy, and the glowing love they share.

Here are a few from our day. ^_^

These were taken in a garden at Lyshanda's sister's house.

We then moved to the aforementioned field, which gave us huuuuge bugs, and amazing light.

Doesn't she have the cutest pregnant belly? I love it. ^_^

Today I'm excited to say I'll be meeting with a wonderful local photographer, Leslie Willard. I found her some time ago and adored her work. Lucky for me she was sweet and approachable! She agreed to meet with me and answer any questions I might have! I promise to tell all when I get home.

......

Yesterday, I dragged Kyle to the park with me to get some shots. I've been wanting to play with aperture and practice it with portrait-like shots. With minimal eye-rolling, he humored me and took direction like a pro. Here's a peek at how it turned out!

We also spotted a huuuuuuuge praying mantis enjoying its meal.

Introducing.....

So here begins the journey of where I'm headed, where I'm going. I'm here to document my success, my failures, my pitfalls, and my dreams. I'm keeping this journal to show others who I am, and prove who I'm going to become.
So lately, I’ve been trying to score meetings with prominent photographers in North Alabama in hopes of gaining some insight to their work, what they do, and how they do it.

I've been emailing back and forth with Leslie Willard of Leslie Adair Photography, and Mike Ross. I'm hoping to soak up a bit of their brilliance through the world wide web, but I'm not so sure that's how it works. Either way, I'm getting there, and you'll see every step of the way.

Here to stay.
