In the loops of her hair..

I. am. sick.

I'm not talking a trifle sick, I'm talking living-in-my-bathrobe-surrounded-by-a-mountain-of-tissues-watching-grey's-anatomy-re-runs-sick. I am unable to breathe through my left nostril, I've learned how to make four different kinds of shadow puppets, and I've learned that when all these things come together, it leaves one with a lot of time inside their own head. The
seeds of doubt that had been germinating weeded their way into my main stream of consciousness. In this craft, it's difficult to choose where to begin, how to create a name for myself. I don't want to be some greatly advertised campaign, something that pushes itself into peoples lives uninvited. I want to be....a wildfire of sorts.

Buisness wise, things have been a bit slow lately, I've been spending my time plotting shoots, finding new locations, and finding new inspiration/ideas. I know this is what I do. I move forward, I learn, I have patience.

I know this. Finding inspiration is probably the easiest. The combination of
being bed-bound and wi-fi is not lost on me, I assure you. I love weddings. I love love. I love everything about the idea of two people sharing their lives together. I know that eventually, I want to focus on weddings and engagements. I know that. So it's not hard to find inspiration, and from that, gain encouragement.

Tonight, I found encouragement in Yeats:

I whispered, 'I am too young,'
And then, 'I am old enough';
Wherefore I threw a penny
To find out if I might love.
'Go and love, go and love, young man,
If the lady be young and fair.'
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
I am looped in the loops of her hair.

O love is the crooked thing,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in it,
For he would be thinking of love
Till the stars had run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
Ah, penny, brown penny, brown penny,
One cannot begin it too soon.

Happy Monday

Elizabeth and Robert: Maternity

It will sound like an excuse. Like, The Dog Ate My Homework...Promise. But, really, I blogged about this yesterday and when it was time to publish, my computer battery died. I banged my forehead on my keyboard. Repeatedly. It was the third time my son had unplugged the cord, so I was a wee bit frustrated. Alas, today is a new day and I plan to recap this entry in great form.

We'd been trying to get Elizabeth and Robert's maternity shoot done for some time, but the weather didn't want to cooperate. Last week, I met them at Big Spring Park in Huntsville for a fun and quick afternoon shoot. (Just in time!) Elizabeth had baby girl Abeni Caleigh Rayne yesterday at around 3am. I'll be visiting them soon so you should see updates and newborn pictures!

Happy Wednesday!

Tracy & Steven: Wedding

As promised, pictures from the unbelievable wedding shot with Leslie Willard of Leslie Adair Photography.

Enjoy!

The courtyard at the church had amazing light!

The flower girls were such troopers! They were freezing cold, the wind was blowing, but they stuck it through together. :)

The carved pumpkin and personalized candies were brilliant!

Wedding: Sarah and Justin

She nervously paced the length of the hallway, arms down, left hand lightly tracing the beading on her dress. She looked up and smiled slightly, a delicate, polite smile.

"It's okay to be nervous," I said.

"I know...once I see him I'll be fine, I just.."

"I know."

And she was. From the moment she saw him she became a pillar of quiet strength. Together they went into their own world of hushed laughter, adoration, and love. So much love.

Sarah and Justin, I cannot thank you enough for choosing to include me on your special day. It's people like you that give me excitement and optimism for the future. To know I am lucky enough to be able to document the love of those around me makes me swoon...Really. I wish you two a wonderful life together and I can't wait to do our day-after pictures!

Sarah got her hair and makeup done at The Hair Shoppe in Joppa. It was lovely!

I have a huuuuge crush on this dress. It's incredible!

I was up on the balcony for the ceremony.

Enjoy!

Engagement: Melissa and Joey

The overcast sky turned darker overhead as we looked up, the rain quietly announcing itself with the occasional large wet drops on our heads. We raised our umbrellas and buttoned our coats as we waited for him.

I had the pleasure of doing engagement pictures for one of my best friends, Melissa. We'd stayed up late planning outfits, coordinating shoes, and blocking out all the wonderful places to shoot pictures in downtown Huntsville. What we didn't foresee, was Alabama's crazy weather.

Despite the obstacles, we made the best of it shooting squatted in building overhangs and huddling under our umbrellas.

Here are a few of my favorites from the day!

Melissa huddled under her umbrella while we were waiting for Joey to arrive

So...they were good sports and laid on the floor for me :o)

Ella: anytime

"Cupcakes?," she asked.
"Yep."
"A cupcake? Umm....Are you sure?? She would make a mess. She wouldn't be good with it she'd just dig in."
"Yes, a cupcake. I think it would be cute."

And it was. Cupcakes, golden hair, and stormy blue eyes made one of the most fun photoshoots I've had thusfar.

Happy Friday!
